About
About DIY Retaining Wall®
With the owner in Raleigh, North Carolina, we have a small team of individuals working remotely throughout the US. We are dedicated to making retaining wall construction simple. You will find many tools and articles for just that purpose: to help you plan, estimate, design, and build your retaining wall.
We offer a variety of services specialized for you. DIY Retaining Wall® will help you develop a site plan so you can identify everything you need to work around on your property. We will develop a customized material estimate with all the supplies you need to successfully complete your project. We will help you file permits for your project if required by your city. If you need an engineer, and your project is located in a state where our engineers are licensed in, we will provide an engineered design for your permit approval. We provide engineering services for Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
We also publish books. If you are planning to build a retaining wall utilizing segmental concrete blocks, check out this book on Amazon! It is a step-by-step guide for every step in completing a non-engineered segmental block retaining wall. Segmental block retaining walls are by far the easiest for a DIYer.
Meet the Owner
My name is Matt and I am the owner of DIY Retaining Wall®. I am a licensed professional engineer with nine years of experience designing retaining walls across the country for various state Departments of Transportation (DOT’s), railroads, municipalities, and heavy civil sites. I serve on committees with the Transportation Research Board (TRB). With TRB, I research projects funded by DOT’s for various infrastructure products and construction techniques related to retaining walls. I translated that experience into helping the individual and local contractors to design and build their retaining walls. I hope you find this site useful.
